Why Mindset Is Everything
There’s a version of me from 10 years ago who would be stunned by where I am now.
Giving TEDx talks.
Training for Ironman.
Mentoring students and coaching young professionals.
Back then, I had dreams — but I also had fear. I doubted myself. I waited for permission.
What changed?
My mindset.
These 5 mindset shifts didn’t just help me grow. They helped me survive, heal, and eventually — thrive.
And if you’re feeling stuck, lost, or uncertain right now… I promise you: one shift can create your breakthrough.
Let’s dive in.
1. Rejection is Redirection
I was rejected from scholarship programs for 5 years straight.
Each time, I felt crushed. Discouraged. Like maybe I just wasn’t enough.
But I kept going. I rewrote essays. I improved my interviews. And eventually… I got accepted to UWC — a school that changed my life.
I now believe every “no” was preparing me for the right “yes.”
👉 Try this: Keep a “Rejection Wins” list. Every time you get a no, write down what you learned from it.

2. Done is Better Than Perfect
I used to wait for everything to be just right — the perfect moment, the perfect post, the perfect plan.
And that delay kept me stuck.
Eventually, I launched before I was ready. I published blog posts that weren’t perfect. I posted videos without a fancy setup.
And guess what?
Done creates momentum.
👉 Try this: Set a 30-minute timer and post something you’ve been overthinking. Done is powerful.
3. You Are the Author — Not the Audience
In my younger years, I used to live my life waiting for applause — hoping someone would validate my choices.
But I realised… I’m not on stage performing for others.
I’m the author of my own life.
The moment you stop living for likes, praise, and approval — and start living from your truth — that’s the moment your life becomes yours.
👉 Try this: Journal this question — If no one were watching, what would I do differently with my life right now?
4. Identity is a Choice
I used to say,
“I’m not an athlete.”
“I’m not confident enough to lead.”
“I’m not good at public speaking.”
But those weren’t facts. They were stories.
When I started training for triathlons, I didn’t wait to feel like an athlete. I trained like one. And step by step — I became one.
👉 Try this: Fill in this blank: “I am becoming the kind of person who ______.”
Now act like it’s already true — just 1% more today.
5. Worthiness Starts Now
This was the hardest — and most important — mindset shift.
For years, I believed I had to earn love, success, and validation.
But true transformation came when I started saying:
“I am worthy — even while I’m growing. Even when I’m failing. Even when I’m quiet.”
You don’t have to wait to become someone “better” to believe in yourself. You are already enough.
👉 Try this: Say this out loud: “I am already worthy. I don’t need to earn it — I just need to remember it.”

Mindset is the difference between:
-
Giving up after failure… and growing through it.
-
Waiting for permission… and stepping into your truth.
-
Playing small… and becoming who you were born to be.
So if you take anything from this blog, let it be this:
✨ Rejection is redirection
✨ Done is better than perfect
✨ You are the author — not the audience
✨ Identity is a choice
✨ Worthiness starts now
You don’t need to change everything overnight.
But you can start with one small shift today.
